EMMYS 2019: OUR FAVOURITE EMMY NOMINATED SHOWS
The biggest television award show of the year, the Primetime Emmy Awards announced their nominations recently. Here are our top picks.
The Primetime Emmy Awards are undoubtedly the most prestigious and most coveted award ceremony when it comes to television shows. Show creators and crews put their best foot forward all year round to take home a trophy. On 16th July 2019, the Academy announced their nominations for this year’s ceremony.
Emerging on top was predictably, Game of Thrones, with a whopping 32 nominations, setting the record for the highest number of nominations by any show ever. The magnum opus has been bagging Emmys every year since its inception - it’s almost tradition! This is the last year they will be winning any Emmys since the show wrapped up its final season recently. You’ve been living under a rock if you haven’t watched Game of Thrones!
Apart from GOT, here are our top picks from the nominations this year:
1. THIS IS US
This NBC show is one of the best dramas on television right now! With beautifully etched characters, it’s a story of a single family and their relationships with the world and with each other.

2. THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL
This gem of a show is having a second run at the Emmys. A comedy series about a woman in 1950s New York who discovers her calling in life is stand-up comedy after her marriage falls apart. Mrs. Maisel is played to perfection by Rachel Brosnahan.
WATCH IF: You want a feel-good show that makes you laugh out loud.

3. BODYGUARD
If you haven’t binged on a good thriller for a while, Bodyguard might be the perfect show for you. It tells the story of a war veteran appointed as a bodyguard to a prominent politician. It is British crime at its finest.

4. SHARP OBJECTS
Psychological drama meets crime thriller in this limited series starring Amy Adams. The show is adapted by a book written by Gillian Flynn, writer of Gone Girl and it’s sure to give you the chills – if you survive till the last episode, that is.

5. CHERNOBYL
You know Chernobyl because of a history textbook, but you will remember it as one of the best television shows of our time. Based on the Chernobyl gas tragedy of 1986, it brings forth the devastation caused by man-made disasters.
